How did the Japanese Shogun react when the religion of the Europeans influenced the people of Japan?
So back in Japan, around 1543 the Portuguese trades came to Japan for their first time, the Portuguese actually got shipwrecked to japan. When the first Portuguese traders came, their main goal was to establish trade with the Japanese. Later on more Portuguese traders came and when more came the more influence the Portuguese had on the Japanese.
As Japan was isolated, the Japanese had never seen the Portuguese, they were very fascinated in what the Portuguese knew and what their beliefs were. The Japanese learnt about Christianity and they were hooked on from that point. Christianity was so popular that there was an estimated amount of 300,000 Christian Japanese.
